Since 1915
Herbert Brown founded a weaving company, Brown & Sons (Bramley) Ltd., in 1915. They initially focused on weaving fabrics for the military, police, and fire services. As bulk garment manufacturing grew in Leeds, Yorkshire, they transitioned to supplying factories with high-quality worsted fabrics for the ready-made suit market. In 1952, the company was renamed Alfred Brown (Worsted Mills) Ltd. They established themselves among London tailors and retailers and expanded globally. Today, as a family-run mill, they continue to uphold British craftsmanship while bringing a fresh approach to serving customers.
